Progress – Monday
Crossed off a few things today:
1. Sleeve pattern – redraft to convert 3 paned sleeve to 5 paned, at the correct size. Note: Pay close attention to final wrist and bicep measurements! Done! This took a lot longer than I thought it would, but it is finished.
2. Finish modifying doublet pattern: shorten 1/2 inch at sides, lengthen by 2 inches in front, and widen at shoulders to accommodate neck measurements. Use the separate collar pattern!!!! Make second mockup.
3. Finish modifying bodice pattern: shorten 1/2, and take in 3/8 in. at side seams.
4. Prepare felt strips for overskirt cartridge pleating. The felt will help give the taffeta better body for pleating. Mark vertical lines every one inch and two horizontal lines an inch apart, starting 1/2 inch from top. Done!
5. Sew bumroll, as it is needed in order to hem the skirts.
6. Start piping the dark purple taffeta for the doublet. Vertical: one or two inches apart? Do a test.
7. Sew skirt panels together for overskirt, and put a temp hem in the bottom, to reduce fraying. Sew felt strip to top.
8. Sew skirt panels together for underskirt. Do we want to make this side opening? Make placket for back if not. Temp hem. Locate that stash of yellow gingham for the cartridge pleat facing and “cheat” strip. Ack – found gingham, but there is no where near enough. Luckily, the yellow gingham is on sale at Wal-Mart, on the $1 table.
I didn’t get as much done today as I would have liked, due to the need for grocery shopping, and making an actual dinner. And since the maintenance folks still haven’t replaced my ceiling fan light in the dining room, my sewing is done for the night.
